He is well known by the name Altai
His most prized treasure, to be told - Katun', his daughter, proud and bold
Katun' was proud, strong and free
One day she met a young man Biy
They fell in love, once and for all
And day by day love was getting strong

Khan Altai decided to find a suitor to Katun'
She stood atop a hill, no one could compare with her
Countless suitors passed. But only one man, wise and true she loved
With him her heart and soul doth grew

Angered, Khan made a decree: “When the sun touched land and sea”
